Porsche Boxster T Labocosmetica New Car Detail

Thanks very much for checking in for today’s edition.

“Take one entry-level Porsche 718 Boxster, load it up with all the tastiest hardware from the options list, then season with exterior decals, fabric loops for door pulls and contrasting grey mirror caps. The 718 Boxster T’s recipe is a straightforward one and there are no comprehensive re-engineering works to speak of. But just like the 718 Cayman T previously reviewed, those apparently minor revisions are enough to make the Boxster T a substantially more involving roadster than the car it’s based upon.” Autocar review

This brand new Porsche Boxster T arrived at TheMattFinish HQ for a New Car Detail and Xpel Plus Paint Protection Film.

After close consultation with the client, it was decided that the car would have the high impact areas covered along with the rear lights and spoiler. The front headlights were not being covered due to issues with Xpel film de laminating with the UV coating sprayed on from the factory.

Upon arrival, the car was not very dirty having only covered 50 miles since being collected from the dealership.

The wash stage took place in some torrential rain so I’m afraid I have no pictures from this stages.

The car was brought inside and inspected under the various light sources available before having its paint measured.

Upon inspection, there were some lights swirling and marring in places along with some holograms on the passenger rear quarter.

The car was moved into the ramp and raised to allow the safe removal of the wheels with guider bars.

With Xpel paint protection going on; bonnet; wings; bumper; windscreen surround; mirrors; side sills/skirts; edges of rear bumper; rear lights; rear spoiler, these areas were first to receive machine polishing in preparation for the installation.

Although TheMattFinish is Xpel certified, with larger jobs that require more than one person help is required from some of the trusted third parties that we use.

After the installation has been completed the film was allowed to settle for 2 days before work continued. In this time it allowed the arches to be wiped down treated, with vulnerable areas being treated to AC-50.

The wheels were also prepped and then coated with two layers of Car Pro Dlux wheel ceramic coating.

After visually checking the film, the remainder of the car was machine polished in readiness for ceramic coatings to be applied.

As with all ceramic coatings, preparation is key so a good wipe down with Panel wipe was required.

TheMattFinish is a certified accredited Labocosmetica detailer and SAM + HPC was used on the paintwork. Xpel’s own ceramic coating Fusion was used on top of the PPF.

Gtechniq G1 Smart glass was layered onto all screen and the fabric roof was treated to 3 layers of Gtechniq I1 to keep it water resistant for months to come.

The interior needed a light hoover to clean before all leather surfaces were treated to Dr Leather Dye block and fabric areas to Fabsil Gold.

With the wheels refitted and torqued to factory settings the car hit the deck and was ready for finishing pictures.

Upon completion the customer is handed information on how to maintain the vehicle along with products recommended to purchase. If required Maintenance packages are then arranged for the future.
